The refurbishment of the Harold Cohen should deliver major benefits for students and staff
The Harold Cohen Library is undergoing a £2.6 million refurbishment this summer following feedback from students and staff.
The works, which follow the refurbishment and expansion of the Sydney Jones Library, will take place over the summer ready to reopen for the new academic year in September.
Once complete the library will have a new look reception area, an additional 220 study spaces, more power sockets, more social seating space, as well as a postgraduate study room and eight new bookable group study rooms.
Regular updates will be posted to a dedicated website – http://hclrefurb.liv.ac.uk/ – which has been set up to keep staff and students up-to-date with progress, as well as via Twitter @LivUniLibrary.
Large areas of the Harold Cohen will be inaccessible while work is ongoing so those studying over the summer months are being encouraged to make use of the Sydney Jones Library, which will be operating with longer opening hours to accommodate people.
A book running service will also be in place allowing students and staff to order books they require from the Harold Cohen to be delivered to the Sydney Jones for collection.
To help minimise disruption people are being encouraged to plan ahead and check out books for the summer before work commences on 2 June.
