University of Uppsala partnership grows

Uppsala-5w

A delegation from the University of Liverpool visited the University of Uppsala to continue the development of a strategic partnership.

The visit was hosted by the Vice Chancellor’s Office and allowed Liverpool colleagues access to a wide range of meetings with academic collaborators, the International Office and the Senior Management of the University.

Having signed a memorandum of understanding during the Uppsala visit to Liverpool in November 2013 the group intended to consolidate relationships and expand the number of departments collaborating with Uppsala. The delegation comprised of academic staff from all three faculties and professional services staff.

I strongly believe that our visit to Uppsala is the foundation stone in a bridge that will support a greater capacity for the transport of ideas and the transfer of knowledge”
Discussions on a number of EU funding streams including Horizon2020, Erasmus+ and STINT (Swedish Foundation for International Research and Higher Education) featured high on the agenda.  Staff and student mobility agreements were considered across the humanities and social sciences, environmental science and health sciences.

As part of the visit colleagues from 18th Century Studies in the School of Arts attend a workshop along with three Liverpool PhD students.

Student Phillip Sargeant, from the School of Histories, Languages and Cultures said: I strongly believe that our visit to Uppsala is the foundation stone in a bridge that will support a greater capacity for the transport of ideas and the transfer of knowledge. This heralds new initiatives where a greater number of academics can begin to collaborate, in order to push the boundaries of research, locate new perspectives and write about other nations through various themes, mediums and periods.

“The Uppsala visit was an experience that I will cherish and remember for the rest of my career.
