Joining forces with Santander

Vice-Chancellor, Sir Howard Newby and Director Santander Universities UK, Luis Juste sign the deal

The University of Liverpool and Santander, through its Santander Universities Global Division, have joined forces to provide scholarship support and awards to home/EU and overseas students studying at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Under the partnership, the bank will provide financial support over the next three years to fund studentships and bursaries.

The aim of this agreement is to foster internationalisation and to promote the transfer of knowledge between institutions as well as to give a financial boost to entrepreneurs and researchers in their projects.

The agreement includes every year:

“¢ five scholarships for students to study in a university already collaborating with Santander Universities.

“¢ 15 mobility awards for students and staff to study or carry out research abroad.

“¢ Support a series of entrepreneurship lectures at the University using global speakers from successful overseas companies

“¢ Support of financial awards to top students in annual ‘pitching’ events.

“¢ Support of round tables that will facilitate interaction between most promising entrepreneurs and experts from the business community.

“¢ Support of incubator spaces for six month periods annually that will provide places for the most promising entrepreneurial team to develop their businesses plan.

As part of the agreement, the University of Liverpool will join 55 other UK universities and over 1,010 in 16 countries that are now collaborating with the bank through its Santander Universities Global Division.

This new partnership with Santander will help us support the next generation of global leaders and develop new links with the international business and entrepreneurial community.”

Luis Juste, Director UK and Portugal for Santander Universities said: “Today we would like to welcome the University of Liverpool as our 56th UK university to partner with Santander. The quality of its teaching and research makes it a partner of choice and we are certain that this collaboration will benefit the university community as a whole”
