Staff welcome overseas students through airport service

The University of Liverpool will welcome almost 850 students through its Meet and Greet Service at Manchester International Airport, as students from over 30 countries arrive in the UK to start their studies.

As part of the annual welcome activities provided by the Student Recruitment and Student Support teams, the University provides a free airport transfer service for all new international, EU and Study Abroad students.

This year’s numbers are a significant increase on the 600 students welcomed by University staff at Manchester Airport last year.

Settling in

The Meet and Greet service will run from 18th – 20th September from 8am to 8pm each day.  A team of staff and international student ambassadors will be on hand at the airport to greet students at all three terminals and transport them to their University accommodation.

Students are offered free refreshments and a UK sim card before they depart, as well as the opportunity to sit in groups and meet other students that might be studying on related courses or living in the same accommodation.

Once students have arrived on campus they will be able to collect their Biometric Residence Permit (BRP). There will then be a full week of events and exhibitions to take part in, involving departments from across the University, the Guild of Students, and local organisations that introduce students to the city and campus life.
