The University of Liverpool is to open a campus in London that will offer professional postgraduate education to UK and international students.

Opening in September 2013, the campus will increase the number of students able to study for a Russell Group degree in London. Programmes will initially be offered in Architecture, Accountancy, Psychology and Public Health, benefiting from accreditation with key professional bodies.

Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sir Howard Newby, said: “For employers, professionals in practice seeking continuous development, and graduates looking for higher degrees with close ties to London’s professional community, the University of Liverpool in London will bring huge opportunities for enhanced personal impact through applied study, geared to the leading-edge of business and industry.”

The campus will be based in Finsbury Square, close to London’s financial centre, offering a state-of-the-art professional learning environment.

The University has a wide range of academic expertise in Architecture, Environmental Science, Computer-Aided Design and the construction industry and will offer a number of Architecture programmes unique to its London campus. These will include Master’s degrees in Architecture, Building Information Modelling, Architecture and Entrepreneurship and Modern Architectural Heritage.

The University’s new London-based MSc Accounting is designed to meet the needs of the accounting employment market. Students successfully completing the programme will be exempt from all Professional Level exams run by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). Programme modules will also prepare students to take ICEAW Advanced Level exams.

At the forefront of research and teaching

The University’s London provision also includes an MSc in Investigative and Forensic Psychology. The course currently run in Liverpool has five commendations by the British Psychological Society and is an important step towards becoming a Chartered Psychologist.

The University will also offer a Master’s in Public Health (MPH) programme. Liverpool has been at the forefront of research and teaching in Public Health for 150 years and the programme will benefit from the University’s established links with public health bodies including the World Health Organisation and NICE.
